I was Inspired by a YouTube clip of Santo and Johnny from 1959 with their hit Sleepwalk. I just had to make a slide guitar . Made from a solid piece of Ash from a local tree. This was an interesting project. The fingerboard is made from recycled Mahogany, it used to be a coat rack ! The fret marker inlays are laminated from ash and walnut strips 1mm thick. The board is bound with Ash, and has Mother of pear inlays. The pickup is a single coil ex Stratocaster type unit. I have fitted a solid block saddle with through string mounting. This has adjustable saddles to compensate for intonation. The instrument is tuned to an open C6 chord. The slide is a 3/4 steel bar polished and mounted in a block of wood in which I cut groves to hold between your fingers comfortably . The backing Track was recorded with the rest of my home made instruments on a Electro harmonix 2880 looped.
