I was a little worried that after Sarkhan, fetches and Sorin all - TopicsExpress

I was a little worried that after Sarkhan, fetches and Sorin all within 24 hours, we wouldnt have anything interesting left for todays spoiler thread. However, with Reid Dukes column just getting its sea legs, WotC made sure to throw him a bone. And by bone, I mean probable format-defining wrath. Check out End Hostilities, which appears to confirm expectations that the new face of Standard sweepers will be slightly more expensive. And I cant say this enough, but if youre an inexperienced player, you really ought to be reading Reids Level One columns. magic.wizards/en/articles/archive/lo/symmetric-effects-2014-09-01 Also new today: The Khans of Tarkir trailer video is up! magic.wizards/en/articles/archive/feature/khans-tarkir-trailer-video-2014-09-01 And a couple more preview articles of note -- Im going to experiment with seeing how multiple card images in the lead post plays here. Howl of the Horde was Mike Cannons From the Lab preview card, and its pushing the limits of how powerful Reverberate effects can be by offering the opportunity to copy your next spell twice for the low price of just three mana. All you gotta do is swing a little! His article is at magic.wizards/en/articles/archive/ftl/triple-threat-2014-08-28 if youre a Johnny steadfast looking for combos. (I wouldnt be *that* shocked to see someone attempt the Goblin Grenade plan in Modern.) And for you set design aficionados, Mark Rosewater has an intriguing article discussing some of the design process that went into Khans of Tarkir (which, believe it or not, started with only four tribes!). Hes being very cagey about some big twist in the block, though, saying he cant talk about parts of the design yet. I assumed we were going to head back in time in Fate Reforged and come back to the future in Louie to find that things have changed...but might we discover that Tarkir isnt as it seems? It isnt a Magic block without some wild baseless speculation, so here goes my official prediction: Tarkir is Zendikar post-Eldrazi. Why else would Sorin be so solemn visiting? (Now watch it be Shandalar. Missed it by *that* much.) His preview card is Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, a sweet graveyard-feeding Sultai commander!
