I was able to observe a seventh grade math class on Thursday. Watched an amazing teacher work with 33 students for 43 minutes. Students did example problems on small whiteboards that they then held up so the teacher could see whether they grasped the concept. I got 50% on the quiz. The teacher had everyone stand up and turn in the their paper to provide some opportunity for movement. I also learned that this teacher purchased her own document camera and smart tablet, a $1,000 investment. She also spends about $500 a year for classroom materials. I would live every voter to have the experience of sitting in a classroom to see how dedicated our teachers are and why we need an appropriate level of funding for education.
