I was able to shoot my first press conference at city hall today. Russell Simmons, Common, Immortal technique, 9thWonder, Rapsody Mysonne. was there.It was peace, cause I only knew of russell being there ahead of time. It was a challenging day cause. I had so many News Agencies in front of me blocking me from the good angles.2,4,5,7,11 all was there. I had to keep lifting my camera above my head with two arms to even get some good shots. It was a long press conference , my camera is not light, so my arms got tired many a time. If it was not cameras, it was people. I was not as close as I would like. I learned I have to get there before the big wigs get there. They hog space. I will say Russell is on his job, which is good to see. He is flexing his power.He is mad motivated by the youth he said. He said he has never seen anything like this in america and he is very proud.It started to become nasty weather, so I could not get any one on ones. Alot of heads had to make moves. Im getting first hand experience of all things journalist . I really was not even expecting to throw footage before jan...I started a few others things from in sept, but I am glad i threw my self in the fire about 3 weeks ago...to start covering happening events in NYC. Even thoe I am purposely putting out raw footage, I just dont have the time tonight, to organize, grade or add graphics, I Still get to tell a news story that only happened at 4pm. That in many ways wont end up on the news tonight. Im sure it will be alot of generic clips on some stations in the city. I will try to put the rest out on youtube later this week.
