I was alone with my mom when she died in 2002. She was in her own bed and the room was peaceful. It was deep in the night, she was drifting in and out of consciousness and I knew that she would not be around by the time that morning arrived. She was peaceful and pain free as I had been administering regular doses of morphine to her to be sure that it remained that way. At one point she awoke and focused her attention on some point near the foot of the bed and said aloud, as if she were speaking to a phantom entity get me out of here!!!. Earlier that evening my cousins wife had been in the room sitting with her and she reported that my mom was talking about Jim .. that was her fathers name. I believe that there are benevolent spirits that arrive to accompany the newly departed through the veil and escort them to or possibly through the tunnel of light that has been reported on by so many that have had near death experiences and have all returned with this same tunnel story. My dad was asleep in an upstairs bedroom and I had to go up and tell him that she was gone .. he never accepted or recovered from the loss until six years later when he himself checked out and moved on to the next reality. I was just thinking about those events tonight and I decided to put it out here ... maybe someone can relate to it or find some kind of comfort for themselves in this story .. hey, you never know who is going through what and might be seeing this.
