I was approached shortly after touch down by a Park Ranger. She told me that drone flights have been banned at ALL National Parks in the U.S. in part because of the risks they pose to natural habitats. Now I dont know about you but it would seem to me that smoking diesel engines, car exhaust, and a whole host of other activities are far more damaging to natural habitats then a battery operated drone. I asked her what the other parts of the ban were about. She gave me no other information other than the National Park Director signed .... I didnt argue with her because I knew that this wasnt going to change policy. I must say that it sickens me that people in power choose to abuse their authority at the expense of others. The parks, yes all 84 million acres in this country, belong to the people. Let the people enjoy it. I know drones are NOT hurting anyone. In fact, folks come up to me all the time wanting to know all about drone flight. All in all... I must say that Im getting pretty good at unexpected encounters with authority. Now if I could get them out catching criminals maybe theyd leave me be :-(
