I was asked last night on twitter what I thought the outcome would be of all the recent UKIP attacking Ive been doing recently? I didnt have an answer really. It sort of started a few months ago when I made a silly joke about a candidate saying something. I got a response from a UKIP councillor (not connected to the original tweet) that was quite bullish. Out of that back and forth came several other charming individuals who wished to also express their views by calling me all sorts and being ever so delightful about how they did it. I dont however continue to attack UKIP because of this. I attack UKIP because I believe it is an organisation that has relied on scaremongering and pays little or no attention to the effect their words of hate can have. For example, Nigel Farage and his attack on Romanians. He may say he meant the country or the men or the crime syndicates but he gave the wrong figures, twisted them to convey his point and cared not who reacted to them. This is the act of a man who is either evil or monumentally stupid. Its also been said by some that surely Im part of the issue by fanning the flames? Well 1/ Im not sure that my meagre social media rantings would have such a reach and 2/ what is the other option? Stop? Just let it go? Maybe I should find a good channel to vent instead of twitter? I dont know. What I do know is that I see intolerance and hatred in the 21st Century and it makes me mad as hell. Here endeth the rant.
