I was asked on FB about how I thought the elections went. My answer: I think the election went well. White Pine County had good turnout, 63%+ I heard. That is much higher that the 45.5% in Nevada. And it almost double the nationwide turnout of 34% nationwide. Wow. When the voters speak in strong numbers, the elected officials better listen. Its always a bit sad to see good candidates that worked hard to campaign lose at the polls. But, Im impressed with those that won, particularly that some younger talent like Nichole Baldwin and Burton Hilton that will be part of the County government. For the Commission, I think the two incoming Commissioners, Gary Perea and Carol McKenzie, will be part of a more business-like and budget minded. I want to add that some of the incoming State Officials like Attorney General-elect Adam Laxalt, Secretary of State-elect Barbara Cegavsky, and Controller- elect Ron Knecht will take the state in the right direction: more open government, pro-business and pro-employment, and NO NEW TAXES. I am really excited that long time Assemblyman and City Councilman Cresent Hardy -- a real pro-ranching, pro-rural Nevadan -- beat out a freshman member of the Reid machine and will be our new representative in Washington. The times, they are achangin I am very optimistic for the future.
