I was asked recently if I offer my pet sitting services "on-call", - TopicsExpress

I was asked recently if I offer my pet sitting services "on-call", and it got me thinking that maybe there are some people new to the concept of in-home pet sitting and it might be a good idea to explain how my business works. Think of it like making any other important travel arrangement; hotel reservation, car rental...I ask for reservations for my service because there are times I have 12-15 families away at the same time. I have a total of 112 "active customers" right now, meaning I visit their pets on a regular basis. Some days I may have only one sit all day, and some days I may have 15. When I already have 15 sits on the calendar, it is difficult to add "last-minute" or "on-call" type sits. If a current client has a personal emergency, I always do my best to add his or her pets to the schedule. When I am working with pets, it can be 7 days a week, up to 3 shifts per day. Therefore, when I see a "free day" on the calendar, I may decide to take the day off if no one calls to reserve. For the past 4 years, I have been researching my family tree...on quite a few of my free days, I travel to cemeteries, libraries, courthouses and other research facilities to do this research. It is what I do for fun, and I schedule this fun on a regular basis :-) Thanks for "listening", all..have a good night and a great weekend!
