I was asked the other night to speak about my Tampa victory and Olympia experience. But I specifically dont dwell in past victories because when you keep living in the past your best will stay behind you. In order for me to elevate my performance level after I came out of retirement I had to forget about my past victories and create new and even higher goals. I always set extra high goals because if I miss the mark the result will still be pretty impressive and ill still be satisfied. Another technique I used to elevate my performance level was to choose a current champion and put him in my bubble. With this I mean put him under a microscope and study him. Id make sure I train harder and smarter than him, eat better than him and make sure im spiritually more connected to God than he is and that i live a more strict lifestyle than he does. So that slowly over due time i will surpass him. To be at the top of your game you need to visualize yourself hitting those goals, you need to convince yourself that you are the best and that you will hit those targets with no doubt in your mind. If you doubt at any time cancel those thoughts. Ive been considered top in South Africa in my sport for a very long time now. Even after being retired for 3 years because of illness Im still considered no1. When you have been at the top for as long as i have you soon find there IS a higher more sustaining and more powerful motivation out there than just carnal motivation. Carnal motivation is when people get motivated by uplifting music or often Ill hear athletes make comments like my haters motivate me, some are driven by fame and money others are motivated to prove a point. I used to find motivation from all of the above but I found there is no better motivation than spiritual motivation, practicing your God given talent to none other than the Creator Himself. This kind of motivation is not just feuled by a fire within like carnal motivation but also from an unseen, unknown motivation to the world a motivation with super natural power. If you are driven by carnal motivation, be informed that you are driven by a weaker motivation and there is a better more powerful motivation out there. Some of you wont have a clue what im talking about, but some of you will. To those i say, may you be blessed and learn from this and may you reach hights you never before thought possible.
