I was asked to join a Vietnam Vet group on facebook, but, had to be approved by one guy who decided whether you qualify. Seems he separates the boots on the ground Vets from the Vietnam Era Vets. I did qualify, as my service was in places no man should have been at 18 years old, but, our Vietnam Veteran Post (VVA), accepts all Vietnam Vets that served in country or all other places during the Vienam Era. Our hardest workers are those who love being accepted by all of us. Now when I was commander of VFW Post 7194 in Arabi, you had to have a ribbon from the war zone, or in direct support, like those in Guam who loaded bombs on the B52s. . The VFW is not able to recruit many folks now, and is in danger of extinction. The DAV accepts all vets disabled or not. They are robust too! American Legion who accepts all vets is strong. So to my Vietnam Vets who discriminate on those who never experienced the war firsthand, you need to accept all our brothers and sisters who signed up just like we did, but, was fortunate to get a better duty station, that we may have wished for
