I was at Benitos Mexican restaurant and cantina tonight, and this song came on. No one knew the name of it even though the name is right there in the lyrics (Si no te hubieras ido [If You Hadnt Gone]), and Ive heard it since it was first released. The version they were playing was sung by the Mexican songwriter Marco Antonio Solis. The version here is by the first artist to record the song--Marisela Esqueda, an American singer who released it on her 1985 album Sin el. This is the version that first got my attention, and I have loved it ever since. Enjoy!
