I was at Tirupati yesterday and something caught my attention. People who take the prasadam aka the Laddus dont get anything to carry them in and they have to buy plastic covers in the next counter for Rs 2 a pop. Everybody who buys or gets a Laddu wants/has to take it back home and hence they have to buy a cover. Now imagine if they charged Rs 4 each but gave a paper bag instead, how many tonnes of plastic wastage would be stopped. Now imagine if all religious institutions in India from the churches to the mosques to the gurudwaras etc gave out plastic bags to carry what ever it is people carry out , how many thousand tonnes of plastic wastage would be stopped? All it takes is a small rule to be passed by the govt to make it mandatory and Im sure none of the religious institutions can complain about raise in production costs cos we all know that religious institutions get money and loads of money throughout the year and meagre change like this is not going to affect anything whatsoever!!! And then there are people who get excited about swach bharat campaign and believe that somehow India will become clean in the next few years because Sachin Tendulkar wielded a broom in his hand! imbeciles!!
