I was at the grocery store with my son Liam the other day. As he struggled to process his surroundings and the many sensory issues he was having by making his own sounds to shut out the painful noises in his ears ie coughing, cash registers etc... A boy in line turned to his Mom for an explanation. In stead of explaining we all come in different forms and thats what makes us all unique, she looked at my child with disdain and saidI think hes a retard. Well lady since you are so big on diagnosis here is yours you are ignorant. You have not only failed to see the beauty in my son but you have forgotten to plant the seeds of beauty in your own son. Ill tell you what my son is. He is pure complete light. He does not judge, deceive, lie or insult others. He is a giver of complete absolute love. He is a life changer for many. And he is the song in my heart that gets me through my most darkest moments. He is a gift. As long as I am alive Liam I will always be your voice. It is the greatest honour. I am so proud to be your mom.
