I was awarded several scholarships at my high school graduation. One was to regular college, one was for one year tuition (provided I maintained a B average or above) and another was to the Dayton (Ohio) Art Institute. I was NEVER allowed (parents had to sign off on our courses for the next year) to take ART in high school! One of my sisters majored in ART--all four years--and she, too, was offered a scholarship (when she graduated) at the Dayton Art Institute. We BOTH were FORCED to return the art scholarship as our widowed mother felt that the arts were comprised of the lowest sort of people--scum! Unlike my sister, however, I continue to draw and share my art. My sister and I both love photography but she hasnt drawn in years. Pity! She was talented too. ~ Sandra S. Corona
