I was backstage at the Greek Theater. In the halls were the pictures of all the musicians that have played and I decided to play a game with myself: If I could see any band perform from backstage at the Greek Theater, who would it be? My current trips are based around Bullerengue and Myal. Bullerengue is a type of music played in the Caribbean region of Colombia. It is equal parts Indigenous, African and European. Myal is the precursor to Rastafari in the Caribbean. It is equal parts herb, chant and drums in an effort to heal the Spirit. I began to imagine Chief Ten Dogs: El Myalero Mexicano de Mineral el Chico en Hidalgo. I found him near waterfalls. I looked around him and these are the following spirits that I spotted: Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Juanito Neri, Willie Nelson, Sade Adu, Meshell Ndegeocello, Cassandra Wilson and Nina Simone. Eating: Avocados, Mangos, Plums, Golden Beets and a Carrot Consomé. Drinking: Erath White Pinot Noir. This band would rehearse for 2 weeks in a glamp and then they would fly up to play the Greek Theater before setting out for a tour of the National Parks. Id follow behind with my gal. Upon waking up at the end of the tour: Id have my curls back. I wouldnt be as wild as I was when I had my curls but Id just like them back. My gal and I would tour the world for two years and then we would come back to Mineral el Chico and my Sephardic ways would come back to allow me to resume daytrading for The Cotton Parlor, Ltd.
