I was beaten by Berkeley Police tonight while protesting police - TopicsExpress

I was beaten by Berkeley Police tonight while protesting police violence against black and brown people in the US. Dozens of others were also hurt by police. I am okay, but bruised and sore. See the video below. Already the media is spinning the story to talk about injured cops, but I want yall to know that 100% of the violence that I witnessed was perpetrated by police against unarmed students who posed no threat whatsoever. These people were beaten and teargassed by police who chose to needlessly escalate a situation that was already under control. Check out this clip (just one moment from about an hour of attacks I filmed), and look out for these moments: 56 seconds, struck while helping up fallen protestor by Officer B. Hartley 1:50 unprovoked attack by Officer B. Hartley 3:15 struck while camera was turned away by Officer B. Hartley 3:25 struck by Officer B. Hartley 3:29 struck by Officer B. Hartley 4:59 Officer strike protestors as man desperately tries to tie his shoe 5:35 Officers lunge to strike protestors on right side of screen 5:54 Officers strike a homeless man...repeatedly struck out of frame, still being assaulted at 6:10 6:00 Officers throw an older man to the ground While inexcusable, this police violence is a minor incident compared to what black American communities are subjected to every day, as in other oppressed communities around the world. #EricGarner #MichaelBrown #Palestine #ShutItDown
