I was born in Chicago, and it saddens me to see news like this always coming from my birth city. This young man, and 27 others were either killed or wounded this past weekend alone in ChiTown. We need to be just as outraged when this happens, just like police brutality and other forms of injustice. We have to stop lying to ourselves saying things like talking about hood in music and calling each other nigga doesnt constitute bad behavior, just bad parenting, BULLSHIT!! We gotta value our lives more and stop letting everybody call us niggas coz its the popular thing to do. Were the only race whos racial epithet is considered cool to be and being real. Yet, we dont want anyone else to use this word coz it still offends us, but call ourselves that all day and expect respect from other people....um, HUH?!? If all you hear all day is kill a nigga, f**k a b**ch, niggas aint shit and so on, and you consider yourself said nigga, how much value do you really place on yourself? If we dont start asking these questions and coming up with solutions, were gonna find our people on an endangered species list.
