I was born in New Jersey, was raised in Toronto Canada, lived in Michigan for 12 years, plus my mom is from Barbados and my dad is from Guyana so I was raised Caribbean. So, as you can imagine, Ive had quite the multi-cultural experience growing up. In all honesty, Ive always experienced somewhat of an identity crisis, because of the multiplicity of ethnic influences in my life. A few years ago, one of my coworkers decided to challenge me because of my diverse experience, to the point of poking fun. He would repeatedly tell me I was mixed up and would harass me about who I was. At first his pestering really discouraged me, because this was an area wherein I struggled. However, after much prayer and thought, I realized that although I am somewhat of a mutt Im SO THANKFUL for my experience! Not only has God given me the opportunity to be a part of an amazing family and to do life with awesome people but A LARGE portion of who I am today is due to my diversity. Bottom line, who cares if youre different or dont fit into a man made category! God has given you the life-experiences He has for a reason. There are people who YOU will be able to reach that others, who fit within the lines, cannot. Dont be discouraged, distraught or discontent with your history.... Be grateful that God doesnt make mistakes. #thankfulthursday
