Polar Bears of the World: Living with Bipolar Disorder Debut Author Chronicles Experiences and Interprets Past in Light of Bipolar Disorder in Autobiography BENTON, KS – In his touching new book Autobiography of a Polar Bear: How Being Bipolar Determined One Man’s Life (published by Trafford Publishing), emerging author Jad Wolf chronicles the exciting events, such a shootouts, fist fights, love affairs, betrayals, corruptions and a general lifestyle that defies logic, not to mention the activities that he experienced growing up completely unaware of his bipolar disorder. He is now reflecting on his past and trying to understand how his diagnosis affected his wild behavior earlier in life. After he was denied entrance into the Marine Corps because of a medical condition, this second-generation Lebanese-American left home in Wichita, where he was born and raised, and settled in Boulder, Colorado. On his own for the first time in his life, he was mesmerized by the hippie lifestyle and the beauty of the mountains and forests of Colorado. He got a job at IBM and planned on entering the University of Colorado the next fall. Unfortunately, his father became ill, and Jad quit his job and returned home to work in the family real estate business. He later became a ski bum and returned to Colorado; however, after a few months of skiing, he and a friend decided to spend the rest of the season in Stowe, Vt. They never got to Vermont though. Instead they wound up in Minnesota, where they worked in a lumber mill. When spring came, Wolf got a job as a deck hand on an ore ship sailing the great lakes and then hitchhiked back to Wichita to attend the wedding of his sister. After a summer and fall living in California, he again hitchhiked back to Wichita, where he then worked in a slaughterhouse while he prepared to go to Beirut, Lebanon, and to attend classes in Middle Eastern studies at the American University of Beirut. Wolf eventually ended up in Vera Cruz, where he and his friend, Lee, stayed for a month, unable to find a ship to take them to Europe. Finally, they hitchhiked to New York City, where they found a flight to Luxembourg and he inevitably found a way to Beirut, where he not only attended classes at the university but also smuggled hashish to Europe and England. That spawned a gun and drug smuggling career that lasted for almost twenty years and spanned Europe, the Middle East, North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Ironically, he later returned to Wichita, became a real estate broker and realized at long last that his life had come full circle. Join Wolf as he recalls the mistakes of his past and seeks to understand himself, his condition and the world around him in his epic and real story Autobiography of a Polar Bear, a book that promises as much heart as it does unflinching action. About the Author Born in Wichita, Wolf has attended classes at Wichita State University, traveled around the world and worked in countless professions. He eventually travelled to Beirut, Lebanon, where he studied Middle Eastern Studies at the American University of Beirut. He has always wanted to be a writer, and in those early days, he even carried a portable typewriter with him on his travels. Divorced with one son, he lives in Benton, Kansas and works as a real estate broker. Autobiography of a Polar Bear is Wolf’s first official book.
