I was challenged to list 10 childrens Books that have stuck with me through my life. Most influential books, I suppose. Lets see if I can remember ten of them. lol 1. Pebbles Flintstones ABCs. Yes, seriously. Because of this book I knew my alphabet almost before I could talk. My Mother tells me I had it memorised word for word and turned the pages when they needed to be turned. Strangers thought I could read at 12 months. It was hysterical. I honestly think that little book helped ignite my love of reading. 2. Charlottes Web I read that book over and over growing up, and I still love the story so very much. 3. Black Beauty Although not really a childrens book (that was not he authors intention. It was to be considered the first animal rights book, and was written for the purpose of making people see things from a horses point of view). There is a passage from that book that rings in my head very often, about a great many things. Its only ignorance? Only ignorance? Its the worst thing in the world next to wickedness. And which does the most mischief Heaven only knows! If people can say, Oh, I did not know, or I did not mean any harm they think that makes everything right. But it surely doesnt, as poor Beautys plight plainly shows. 4. Where the Red Fern Grows. My favourite teacher Mrs. Quick, read this to our Third Grade class. She had to hire somebody to come in and read the ending, because as a dog lover she just couldnt do it, it was too sad. I love that book and story to this day, and re-read it still. It kindered my love of scent hounds, and while I will never have coonhounds, as I am not a hunter, I finally got my two little red hounds in the form of Cricket and Copper. :) 5. The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking I was obsessed with these books when I was in third and fourth grades. Just obsessed. :) 6. Rudyard Kiplings The Jungle Book I still have passages memorised, and used to write fan fiction based on the characters. It still speaks to me. 7. The Harry Potter series 8. Ballet Shoes Not much to say about this one except its a classic and always will be. :) 9. Sam and the Firefly I havent thought of it in ages, but it was a really fun book. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_and_the_Firefly 10. Bread and Jam for Francis A cute little book about diversity in eating, but I often remember it. :) https://goodreads/book/show/911579.Bread_and_Jam_for_Frances
