I was challenged to share 10 Books that Stuck by Alysia Malmstrom. So, in order of when I first read them: 1. Scared Silly (Eth Clifford)--this was a book about two sisters exploring a whimsical mansion and for some reason I thought it was the greatest book of all time. I havent read it since I was 8 or 9, but I have kept my love of fun, imaginative stories. 2. A Wrinkle in Time (Madeline LEngle)--I read this recently with my girls and I was surprised by how short it was. Its a beautiful, rich story and I related so much to Meg when I was a tween. 3. To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee)--I mean, its the greatest novel of all time or something, isnt it? 4. Jane Eyre and Villette (Charlotte Bronte)--Im cheating, but I love both of these novels and have read them so many times. Charlotte wrote such amazing characters. 5. Cry the Beloved Country (Alan Paton)--most of the books that have made me more aware of injustice and suffering have stuck with me, but the main character is an especially beautiful person. 6. The Handmaids Tale (Margaret Atwood)--this is one of the first feminist books I read and I really appreciated the way it led me question things that I had always just accepted without thinking. 7. The Eyre Affair (Jasper Fforde)--I am crazy about this series. It is so fun and imaginative and I love everything about it. Thursday Next is such an amazing character who raises a family while saving the world over and over again. I recommend it to everyone, but for some reason no one gets into it as much as I think they should. 8. Bossypants (Tina Fey)--Tina Fey is my favorite. 9. The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig (Eugene Trivizas)--this twist on the classic is one of the best childrens books of all time. The kind and generous rhino has become our family mascot. 10. Being Enough (Chieko Okazaki)--Chieko is my spiritual hero and her words have been a powerful influence for good in my life. Thanks for the challenge! It was fun. I challenge Bonnie Joy.
