I was challenged to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by Jacob M Santilla and Tyler Stickney. No I will not be pouring any ice water on my head. Id rather donate what I can and spread awareness by sharing facts about the horrible disease. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. I challenge anyone and everyone that before you dump ice water on your head please still donate what you can even if its only a $1, say some facts about ALS what it stands for and info about the disease or say a prayer (even just quietly to yourself) for people with ALS. Please make it more then just another viral video about yelling out Ice bucket challenge and other peoples names.
