I was cleaning up my computer files and ran across this classic. This video makes me laugh every time I watch it. But somewhere in that laughter, bitter feelings are squashed because it is too funny. Those bitter feelings are to the repetitive slaughtering of our Polynesian names, by people. Especially people with public representations. I will cite two examples of the worst and the best Ive dealt with. Once again, as in all my posts, I will not sugarcoat my feelings. The worst example of this is, that drunk potogee coach Larry Price. For years, and years, we have put up with this guy destroying our family names on tv. The worst thing about it is, he makes no efforts to learn these Polynesian names, after all these freaking years. No effort whatsoever! The Aloha stadium announcer is right behind him as well. The best example was the sport director at Idaho State University, Glen Alfred. This man went to each team-opponents as well, and read down the team rosters for correct pronunciation. He was a true professional in his field. I never forgot that. I mean I rarely heard my name during the football games, but when I did hear it, Glen was spot on, because he took the time to learn it. Anyhuu. This video just took me there, but it is too funny not to laugh. A good laugh for this cold Saturday evening. Enjoy. https://youtube/watch?v=dAPOk0CEqUg#t=59
