I was country when country wasnt cool. I woke up singing this song this morning sweet memories of my mother flood my heart it was her influence on me lol... My mom loved the incredible Barbara Mandrell and so do I. Im so glad we got to see her perform twice in my moms lifetime it was one of the highlights of our lives. We all handle grieving differently and thats okay we are all human beings Im not here to say whats right or wrong for everyone we all have different views and the important thing is to me we dont allow grief to take us over. I choose to focus on the good memories like this song it makes me miss my Mom but it reminds me of all the good memories and makes me feel close to her. I used to hate to hear people say sorry for your loss even though I appreciate and understand that is all they knew to say to console me it didnt make me mad at them but from my point of view if our loved ones are Christians we didnt lose them they are just absent from us they are home in heaven with the Lord and we will see them again. The Apostle Paul said We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 so their is no room for doubt where are loved ones are. There is nothing wrong with grieving or as I like to say missing our loved ones. It becomes wrong if we allow it to consume us and become so withdrawn from life we dont move on we still have a race to run a life to live to the full. I guess what Im trying to say friends dont allow the spirit of grief to consume you focus on those happy positive memories and its okay to miss those dear ones who are absent from us but choose to honor them by living life not being consumed with grief. I guess Im missing my Mom today glad for things like that like Barbara Mandrells music that make me feel close to her in her absence. Cause me and my Mom were country when country wasnt cool
