I was discussing trees and honey with Simone Keane the other day, - TopicsExpress

I was discussing trees and honey with Simone Keane the other day, and the upshot of the conversation was that karri trees in particular need to have more songs written about them. Heres one, and there is at least one more to follow, when I have made the film... Actually, I have a feeling there are quite a few songs waiting to find their voice (and what a voice it is!) in the karri grove near Goode Beach. Hope you like it; I think you will... Please note: you need to click on the HD symbol to see an image that is not pixellated. I will upload a fully HD version to YouTube soon. Karri Trees in the Rain (Words by Giles Watson. Music by Simone Keane.) Because there’s nowhere left to turn, and no one left to find, I go down to the karri grove to quench my burning mind. Rosellas flashing through the leaves plumed in licks of flame, are sparks of hope that flicker out through karri trees in the rain. The branches hung with ribboned bark darkened by the wet; contours mark the growing trunk, and I shall not forget the bronzewing on a limb of bone– how mournful his refrain – a lonely voice that cools my soul like karri trees in the rain. I glimpse the golden whistler, the glinting magpie’s eye, the dew on Hardenbergias – globes of earth and sky. The darkened sap is runnelling; my fingers trace the stain, and I am streaked with living tears like karri trees in the rain.
