I was doing some comparison shopping at Costco today to compare - TopicsExpress

I was doing some comparison shopping at Costco today to compare our prices for grade A organic produce vs. the cheapest conventional produce you can find. This is not even a fair comparison mind you as organic is usually about 200-300% more then conventional at a normal grocery store. Of the 8 products I chose our prices were only an overage of 14% higher and many products were nearly the same price or lower through us. I have posted pictures of products where we were close in price. 1. Kiwi/kg: Costco-3.84, #globallylocal-3.96 +3%. 2. Avocado/unit: Costco- 1.40 #globallylocal-1.25 -11% 3. Grapefruit/kg: Costco-1.98 #globallylocal-1.98 0% 4. Oranges/kg: Costco-3.03 #globallylocal-1.87 -38%. Now lets also consider that by purchasing produce at Costco your money is supporting a large multinational corporation that is driven by profits vs. our organization that supports small farmers and local businesses. Plus we are not even much more expensive on average and on some products drastically lower and our produce is waaaaaay higher quality and waaaaay fresher. So ask yourself what organization you would rather support and who is giving you more value?! I will be doing a much more complete statistical pricing analysis for everyone soon but I thought people would find this interesting! Please share this and tell your friends so we can even get better pricing!
