I was down at Mounthawk Park tonight ( the grounds that Mr Ring forgot today when he was dishing out the cash ) and an unfortunate accident happened in the Cup replay between Inter Kenmare and Sporting Listowel with 73 minutes gone - young Alan Murphy Reeve in an accidental - clash with an opponent- he slumped to the ground - screaming in agony as his knee appeared to pop out - we covered him and had him lie still - rang the ambulance and Shannon Ryan and Connie Cremin kept him alert and the Listowel lads are sporting by name and by nature - along with his team-mates kept him going until the medics arrived in quick time - Poor Alan was in great pain ( only 17) and the ambulance crew did a fantastic job - gas -and all the other stuff they do like taking off the boot - keeping him calm - getting him on the stretcher - Marvelous and wonderful work they did - they can never be paid enough !!! - 35 minutes after he slumped in utter agony - Alan Murphy Reeve was on his way to KERRY General Hospital with the red carded Mark Granville with him _ one funny comment that Alan made as he was turned over and placed on the stretcher - and obviously plenty gas in in him - he said to Shannon Jesus the Sky is lovely and Shannon replied - not really Alan - somebody bloody stole our tent !!! ALan was in good form heading off to hospital and was applauded by both teams- Alan warned the young man Paudie ( dont know his surname) get the winner for me !! Well both sides wanted to play on - 17 minutes left and Kenmare leading 3-2 but a man down - then Shannon Ryan took a free kick 25 yards out and Messi like curled it around the wall - 4-2 ( Sannon is known as Messer not Messi) - goal of the season. but at the other end Sporting Listowel scored from penalty spot l 4-3 - guess who gave away peno - yes Shannon Ryan - 5 minutes later Inter attack - and young Paudie did Alan Murphy Reeve proud be setting up Stephen ( O Shea or O Sullivan at a guess - for a 5-3 lead. Listowel have a man red carded - Shannon Ryan with another free kick comes back off the post and down the field races Darran Halpin - ghosts past Donal Casey - the first ghost to pass Donal in 20 years playing for Inter - and its 5-4 - but time ran out on Listowel and Inter Kenmare won 5-4 and I reckon there is one happy young man high as a kite in A and E - so on behalf of all in the Kerry District League - KDL lets wish young Alan Murphy Reeve a speedy recovery and hope he gets to the Macklemore concert even if Donal Casey has to push him in a wheelchair from the Red Cow - So lets hope Alans knee injury is not as bad as it looked - lets have some likes folks - thanks !!!
