I was driving to Costco this morning on a spectacular, summer Sunday in the Pacific Northwest this morning when one of Pops pieces came on the shuffle of my iPod. It really was something to listen to one of the works he poured his heart into with so many of us as accomplices pitching in. The sound was so unmistakably involved and intense and it breathed and pulsated with life. It instantly brought back memories of singing with him on Sundays or playing in his orchestras in Spring Chorale rehearsals and performances and suddenly, it made it seem more like he wasnt gone. I also realized how much of a help its been to have gone through the difficulty of his passing with so many people here and elsewhere, remembering him so fondly with pictures, stories, videos and recordings. And I wanted to express some overdue gratitude to so many of you for doing so. Its really helped especially during those hours of the morning when we would have had our daily phone call which Ive been missing a lot. Anyway, I wanted to say thank you. Sincerely, Stephen
