I was excited to stay in Ottawa today to be a part of a maneuver - TopicsExpress

I was excited to stay in Ottawa today to be a part of a maneuver by our caucus to take control of the business of the House. We used that control to force a debate and a vote on the issue of holding an inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Canada. This is something the Cons have been trying to avoid for far too long. This normally couldn’t happen but on Fridays there are often a reduced numbers present so today, when the time was right, a large number of us who had been waiting outside came in to boost our numbers and force the issue onto the agenda. It was inspiring to listen to my colleague Romeo Saganash, a residential school survivor, talk about his experience and that of his family, underscoring how important it is to give the families of these missing women some closure. Today we showed what a hard-working, progressive, and compassionate NDP majority government could do for this country.
