I was finding fault with my recently serviced m4-2, then I compared it with the m4-p, and realised both are just as loud compared to my early Ms... the m4-2 has something wonderful: like the earlier Ms, it has an uncluttered 50mm frameline. But generally, the m4-2 is selling at a discount on the auction site, which is kinda strange because it has a relatively low production run compared to the m4-p or m4 making it more rare. It is cheaper than the other M4(s), sometimes by half because the early serial numbers experienced some issues. The M4-2 is also a departure from the m3/m2/m4 in terms of workmanship, what is interesting is that all other later mechanical Ms followed the m4-2 in the manufacturing process. So if you see a M4-2 with relatively high serial numbers, grab it as this is the camera that saved Leica during the dark years when the world shunned the M5 and the japanese SLRs were king of the hill.
