I was gifted a lovely book today. And hidden within this apparently store-shrink-wrapped book were three more slim, beautiful and thoughtful surprises. The gifts themselves are treasures, entirely appropriate to my interests and liking. A couple of weeks back, another friend gave me a bag she had made herself, depicting a place we had visited together. In this day and age of busyness and self involvement, I seem to know the exceptions. To see this degree of time, thought and energy put into gifts for no particular occasion ...is something that surprises and warms the heart. So I write this not to brag about the friends I have ( ok, maybe a little bit ;)), but to share what they teach me: We dont have to move mountains to demonstrate friendship and caring. Its the small, personalised, thoughtful gestures that leave a deep and lasting impact...
