I was given my grandmothers passport from 1911 from Ukraine, - TopicsExpress

I was given my grandmothers passport from 1911 from Ukraine, Fastiv/Fastov, Russia. It has now started me on a search......... A friend, Olga, has been very gracious to interpret some of the old Russian script. She also found information regarding the town. To me this is so interesting. The passport is written in old Russian alphabet which goes along with the year of 1911, Bolsheviks came up with a new one after 1917. According to available internet sources in Russian, Fastov City in 1390 used to be known as mestechko- some sort of village in Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and Western part of Russia. Mostly the word Mestechko used to show that the majority of the village/city population were Jewish. In 1800 Fastov became the part of Russian Empire n 1918 its became the part of USSR with its major railroad Kiev-Odessa. From 1941-1943 was occupied by Germans
