I was glad to join PA Liquor Control Board (LCB) Commissioner Tim - TopicsExpress

I was glad to join PA Liquor Control Board (LCB) Commissioner Tim Holden yesterday on a tour of the LCB’s Northeast Distribution hub at Kane is Able in Stauffer Industrial Park in Taylor, PA. Kane is Able has served as one of 3 LCB logistics providers since 1990 -- delivering wines and spirits to stores in 42 of our 67 counties throughout the state. It is an impressive operation with over 11 million cases of wine and spirits shipped annually in to and out of their facility in Northeast PA. One hundred jobs are supported here in the 22nd District as a result of this state-contracted warehouse and logistics system. I was also glad to join company management in announcing their purchase of 6 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueled trucks that were added to the Kane fleet this week. These trucks, while initially more expensive than standard vehicles, are more environmentally friendly and they impose considerably less fuel and maintenance costs going forward -- offering a payback period to the company of approximately three years. This new technology and the access Kane has to an abundant and less expensive energy source to fuel their trucks will reduce overall costs to the company and will advance their business plans to expand nationally.
