I was going through some old school documents, trying to find some bios and stuff for a friend who is helping me with a resume, and I ran across an essay I wrote about creative writing. Here are a few of my thoughts regarding why I chose that as my major...thought it would make a good status update ;) ...As Truman Capote once remarked, “To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what its about, but the inner music that words make.” I have to agree with this. I write, for the pure and simple love of writing, for the “inner music” I hear, and for the comfort it brings. I love to create art on paper, using neither paint nor brush, but only words. The possibilities are endless, especially with fiction writing, the sky does not even stand in the way. Why does the sky have to be the limit? It does not. I like to aesthetically think of creative writing, as a process of floating through time and space, while transcending time, genre, and rules. Writing can serve as many things, including an escape from the inevitable hardships that ensue simply from being a human...
