I was going through some papers and found a tribute that my dear friend Peg wrote about my mother, Pauline. I thought this was worth putting out there for the rest of you, my friends. A few things Ive learned from Pauline - 1. The best way to welcome a stranger into your home is to treat them like family. 2. If you dont know how may will show up for lunch, make stew. 3. Sometimes, love must be tough. 4. Not everyone has to be an early bird. 5. To keep tabs on whats happening, get a good pair of binoculars. 6. Eat slowly. 7. It is possible to successfully raise five girls alone on a ranch. 8. Grandchildren are wonderful. If they show up at your door, take them in, feed them, love them and try to teach them a thing or two. 9. If a neighbors mean bull is charging your kids and your cows, it doesnt matter whose vehicle youre in, you will try to block his path. 10. If someone shows up for dinner that youre not expecting, set another plate. Theres always enough for one more. 11. You can never have enough books. 12. Music is good. Better if you sing on key. 13. Watch what you put in the wood burning stove. 14. You can have fun snowed in during a blizzard without electricity but you dont want to live this way every day. 15. Horses are pigs when it comes to hay. Make them eat every spear before giving them more. 16. If youre the reporter, you find out the news. 17. If you dont feel well, you have a right to be a little crabby. 18. Slow down over the cattle gates. 19. Its OK to have your own opinion. Sometimes its best to keep it to yourself. 20. Live till you die. 21. Love of God, family and friends and hard work are what life is all about. Thanks for the memories, Peg. She was a keeper!
