I was going to post Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas - TopicsExpress

I was going to post Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas tonight, which I thought was a rather appropriate choice. However, which version to choose, I thought. I decided that Michael Buble’s version was probably the strongest (just) and I think it could turn out to be his “classic” Christmas song. Many artists, when they have a Christmas hit and realise they’ll be able to retire on it try to recreate it but I don’t know anyone who’s managed to create more than one real Christmas classic (except maybe Frank Sinatra). Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas is a Christmas song written in 1951 by Meredith Willson. The song was originally titled Its Beginning to Look Like Christmas. The song has been recorded by many artists but was a hit for Perry Como and The Fontane Sisters with Mitchell Ayres & His Orchestra in 1951. Bing Crosby recorded a version in the same year which was also widely played. A popular belief in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, holds that Willson wrote the song while staying in Yarmouths Grand Hotel. The song makes reference to a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well...; the park being Frost Park, directly across the road from the Grand Hotel, which still operates in a newer building on the same site as the old hotel. And so, at last, here’s Michael performing the Christmas hit here on Strictly:- youtube/watch?v=qgWA0uE81z4
