I was going to post something that I thought pertained to my first - TopicsExpress

I was going to post something that I thought pertained to my first generation of nephews and nieces, who are all in, or approaching, their 7th decade (yeah, thats what the 60s are called, decade wise, munchkins). Instead of addressing them with the cumbersome phrase nephews and nieces, it dawned on me that a unifying kinship term might be in order, as in brothers and sisters=siblings, and since Id never heard one, I thought Id coin one made up of elements of both words. Based on my erroneous and persistent misspelling of niece as *neice, I came up with nebling, consisting of the first two letters of nephews and *neices. But, just to be sure that nothing existed, I did a Google search and discovered that (Oh, man, I misspelled niece!) one did, coined by a linguist in 1951: en.wiktionary.org/wiki/nibling Nibling? Come on, that sounds like minnows coming at you while swimming at Henderson Park on the Merced River. Long, long story short, I have coined a word: Neblings, nephews and nieces. Do you agree? Validate my new coinage by using it at every opportunity.
