I was going to post this on another site Im on, but, in the end, I decided to share it with anyone who wanted to listen. I got stuck on Maui last night while trying to get back to Kona from Honolulu (more on that later). I got a pretty nice hotel room and dozed off fairly early only to awaken about 10:30 PM. The TV was on but I hadnt yet discovered the guide channel. While surfing the channels, I came upon a video of Bruce Springsteen in concert. In addition to the E Street Band regulars, Nils Longren had joined Bruce for the show. (This was shown on a Time Warner station named Paladio (I believe that is the correct spelling - close enough, anyway). The song really struck a resonant chord for me - I suppose that in large part this was due to the different interpretation of a very familiar hit. It also made me think of the second tune Ive posted here - a little number by John Fogerty. I think you will understand why these songs struck home.
