I was happy to be invited to officially launch Tzu Chi’s home care services at the Tzu Chi Free Clinic at Redhill, and was particularly touched by one story of the support that Tzu Chi provided for one home care client: 88-year old Mdm Lee has been bedridden since a stroke in 2004. Her son, Mr Wong, who is over 60 years old, left his job to look after her full time. When Mr Wong visited Tzu Chi in 2012 for hypertension, Tzu Chi went the extra mile to offer him support in caring for his mother. Today, the care team regularly visits Mdm Lee at home to provide medical care and therapy. When I visited them, Mdm Lee was in good spirits although bedbound. What a difference great support from a team of committed caregivers can make, to help make life easier for seniors and their family members!
