I was honored to be invited and attend a Carolina style cookout and fundraiser at the home of Dr Naveed Aziz in the Flat Branch Community of southern Harnett County. The food, music and hospitality were over the top. It was a great event and Dr. Aziz was generous to offer her home and yard for this event. We experienced a relatively severe thunder storm but when it passed all was fun. The event was held for Associate Justice Cheri Beasley who has been honored to serve on the Supreme Court of North Carolina since being appointed in 2012 by Governor Bev Perdue. She is running for a full 8-year term to remain on the State’s highest court. I was the last speaker and spoke on behalf of Clay Aiken and Joe Langley both who were unable to attend. By the time I got the mic I was fired up and I hammered home the importance of electing good people to office and that GOTV was so important. I pointed out several draconian polices that the Republican Legislature and Governor have imposed on the people of North Carolina. I stressed the fact that we had elect people to the NCGA who could repeal the laws that have turned our state back 50-100 years. Saturday was a good day starting with a lunch bbq fundraiser and tribute Tim Currin from the Mamers/Boone Trail area of Harnett County and ended with a great group of candidates from several counties and Harnett County who are committed to restoring civility to our great community and state.
