I was honored to speak at the retirement of Cmdr. Mark Kirk, United States Senator (Ill.) yesterday in the Pentagon Hall of Heroes - we recognized the culmination of a long and distinguished career he had as a naval intelligence officer. Though much of the world has changed over 24 years, Marks commitment to being the most exceptional Citizen-Sailor has never wavered. He has leveraged his diverse experience and connections from serving in Congress to the benefit of our Navy and mission. Moving forward, I have no doubt that Mark will utilize the core values of honor, courage and commitment to make a positive impact while serving at the highest levels of our government. Cmdr.
