I was humbled to have had the opportunity to pay tribute to an outstanding legislator, although she is no longer with us. Yesterday morning, the 30th Legislature hosted a plaque presentation and sign unveiling for the Lorraine Berry Legislative Annex on St. Thomas. It was fitting and proper that the building that houses our legal counsel who draft the measures that go into our V.I Code be named after her. Sen. Berry played a role in over 400 pieces of legislation over the course of her 12 consecutive terms as senator. Twenty - four consecutive years at the Senate, her record is still unmatched. I thank our Senate President Shawn-Michael MaloneMalone for being such a gracious host for the tribute. I thank Sen. Berrys family for working with us to make the event a succes, as well as her former employees, campaign workers and friends for coming out to share the moment with us. It is a privilege to have served as the primary sponsor of such a fitting tribute.
