I was in Camden Town, London last night with Peter Tatchell for the premier of PRIDE, the new movie about the true story how a lesbian and gay group aided striking Welsh miners (and vice versa) in 1984-85. While it is funny and entertaining and dramatic and all, it tells a vital story of progressive groups working together and REALLY supporting each other, something we see so rarely these days. I was profoundly moved--in tears through much of it. And the opening night party was held at the Electric Ballroom in Camden where the gay group held its big fundraiser for the miners almost thirty years ago. Kudos to all hands for their work--and just getting this terrific film made. Opens in NY on September 19.
