I was in Law Enforcement for a total of 27 years, both civilian and military. There is something called excessive force! An officer is required to use only the force used to effect the arrest. I read one comment where it said the office got scratched and spit on before he cameUNGLUED! Hey! Thats part of the job!!! An officer is not allowed ot become UNGLUED! If they come unglued then theyre not able to handle the stress. For an officer to beat a subject in a wheelchair is unexcusable. This was a detox ward!!! People in there are drunk!!!! If the officer used excessive force then he/she can be charged with assualt and face criminal as well as civil charges. I dont care if the guy spit on him, scratched him or whatever, that was excessive force and the offricer needs to be discliplined. Short and sweet! Just because the guy is drunk, that is no excuse to beat on him. If that officer cant handle the stress of the job then he needs to turn his badge in.
