I was in Prince William County courthouse today with a deeply religious Indian client facing a criminal charge. After much fighting, I was able to get the case taken out of criminal territory so that he would not have any criminal conviction. In the hallway, the man knelt down and kissed my feet - both feet. In 16 years, I have never had that expression of gratitude from a client. I was sincerely humbled. Embarrassed a bit. But humbled. It is rejuvinating to give people second chances from their transgressions.
