I was in Yellowstone several years ago, and saw an injured osprey. She could barely fly. Generally, I would go catch her myself and take her to a vet, but since I was in a National Park, I called a ranger to come help. I almost had to change my pants when he explained that it is park policy to let nature take its course!!! And left her to die. There were many witnesses, and the people who I was traveling with were unwilling to risk breaking the law by helping me transport her to a vet. Then she moved to a place where I could not reach her; I have very little respect for Yellowstone Park admin. In fact, most agencies do more harm than good. I have brought in injured raptors and other wildlife; upon follow up, 90% were euthanized. Some years ago, local officials confiscated a blind crow who lived in a sanctuary with people, and was part of the family. They decided that it was not proper for a crow to live that way, so they killed it.
