I was in a foul mood on my way home last night (Why was I in a foul mood? Well, lets just say somebody stayed til midnight out of the goodness of his heart, but the night crew takes its own damn sweet time relieving people) I missed the bus # 2 so I caught the # 3. The three is strange little route that goes by Harborview Hospital. Anyway, because I was in a bad mood I almost missed figuring out just how strange the #3 is. There was a person shaking their head (Im using an indeterminate pronoun because I really could not figure out if this person was a man or a woman) and muttering. Usually I like listening to people with unusual speech patterns. But I was grumpy and for once I just wanted quiet. This person went from subject to subject, how somebody from metro hooked them up good, how the boss wanted em to work two shifts in one night, working both the Mariners and the Sonics game, and how sticky their hands were, how Seattle was a very easy place to get (mumble, mumble), they were drunk but not driving, they were taking the bus. But then, blocks later, they returned to the sticky hands. How they just wanted to be home to wash them. Hands so sticky, wishing they had hot, hot water to wash these sticky hands. And thats when it hit me, I was riding the bus with Lady Macbeth. (Or, since this is America, Mrs Macbeth). The # 3 is the route that that literary characters ride.
