I was in a large health food shop with my kids today and Miss 7 - TopicsExpress

I was in a large health food shop with my kids today and Miss 7 said (very loudly) This cant be a health food shop, the sell rice wheels!. She is so right - although these are sold in the health food isle of supermarkets and in health food shops, they are far from a health food. All flavours contain yeast extract, unspecified flavours, sunflower oil and sugar. The burger flavour also contains hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP), rice bran oil and 635. 635 is a flavour enhancer that works with MSG and is known to cause itchy rash, swelling of lips and tongue, headache, allergic reactions, behavioural problems, sleep disturbance, heart palpitations and should be avoided by asthmatics. Yeast extract and HVP (and 635) are just a few of the many ingredients that always contain processed free glutamic acid (see photo 2 for more details) - that is the chemical in MSG that causes the adverse reactions such as heart palpitations, pins and needles, bronchospasm in asthmatics, restlessness, irritability, dizziness, headache, migraine, depression, nausea, tingling and numbness. Not something I would consider feeding to my kids! For an easy, healthy snack that kids love, make some homemade popcorn. A pack of popping corn is super cheap. I will put my recipe in the comments.
