I was in my 8th grade math class when i heard our principle come across the intercom telling us to turn on the news that there had been a national travesty upon our World Trade Center towers, i still remember turnin the tv on seeing the first plane the the second plane hit the towers and it seemed like seconds later both towers just crumbled to the ground, i remember seeing ppl talkin on the news crying,screaming,in complete shock, ppl running trying to get away from the smolder and debri,ppl who were injured or hurt or even deceased by that instant moment, i remember we were dismissed from school to go home not even an hour later and were told we would be informed of when to return to school..My mother and I made Red,White,and Blue ribbons that were braided and shaped like the breast cancer awarness ribbons...i took them to my school and all of my schools events and sold them one by one...we sent all the money from these (over 2000 ribbons sold for $1 a piece)to the NYPD&NYFD!! we got an award ceremony in our honor for that from my school, it was so amazing to see that we could make such a difference just by making theses simple ribbons, and the amount of ppl who would by them and how many they would buy at a time, i dont think that our world could ever by so humane like we all were at that very moment in time, it is such a great honor to know that my name and my mothers name as well as my SCHOOL is some where in NY for the help and support that we gave!!!We even had the honor of being on the news for this,but i didnt care about being on the news..who cares for publicity and paparazzi in such a mourning state of time, i was more interested in just simply sharing what we were doing and what it was going for!!!! 9/11 I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER!!!! where were you??
